Fireworks go on sale Sunday in Wenatchee Valley

WENATCHEE — You will be able to buy fireworks in the Wenatchee Valley this weekend.
Fireworks stands in Wenatchee can start selling sparklers, Roman candles, ground bloom flowers and other fuse-lit devices associated with the Fourth of July beginning Sunday at noon. Stand operators in East Wenatchee will have to wait until 10 a.m. Wednesday to open up shop according to that city's municipal code.
In East Wenatchee it is legal to set off fireworks between 1 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. July 3 and 4. The dates and times fireworks can be discharged in Wenatchee vary. According to city code, fireworks can be used during the following hours:
- Noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday
- 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. June 29 to July 5
- 9 a.m. to noon July 6
Last year 785 fireworks incidents were reported statewide to the state Fire Marshal's Office. Twenty-seven percent of those incidents involving children without adult supervision and 95 cases involved children under the age of 14.
